This program provides an excellent opportunity for qualified students to receive loan assistance while pursuing a degree in education and a Utah Educator License.
The Teaching Incentive Loan Program (TIL) is state funded and jointly administered by the State Board of Education and the State Board of Regents. The program consists of a waiver (of tuition and fees at Utah public institutions, and $995 per semester at Utah private institutions) to be used for a period not to exceed eight (8) semesters. TIL recipients will be required to complete an educator preparation program and teach in Utah public schools for a term equal to the number of years for which the loan was received. To qualify for a Utah Educator License, a recipient must receive a cleared background/fingerprint check at the time of licensing AND have a visa or citizenship status that will allow the recipient to be employed in the United States. If a recipient does not complete the degree or decides not to repay through teaching in a Utah public school, that recipient will be required to repay all TIL monies received.
2012 applications and accompanying support materials must arrive at the Utah State Office of Education on or before 5:00 p.m., Friday March 30, 2012. Application materials should be sent to:
