Real Life College Student Blog: A Beginner’s Guide to College Study Skills

From my high school days I remember a lot of friends bragging about how they could pass any class without studying. These are usually the kids who more or less breezed through high school, taking only the classes that were required and not bothering attempting the more challenging pre-college courses. I have to give them credit: they did manage to get by with A’s and B’s with a minimal effort. They walked on graduation day like everyone else.

Real Life College Student Blog: In College and On-The-Job

One of the most common issues circulating around the higher education sphere today is obvious: college is expensive! (And hey, that’s why an entire section of the HigherEdUtah site is dedicated to preparing and paying for college.) Today, the reality is that a great deal of the students pursuing, entering and currently attending college will need to seek out a job at some point to help cover the costs of a higher education. Now, I know working may not be number one on your list of activities to engage in after a hard day of classes, but take a look at it this way. On-the-job experience is your chance to make connections, build and acquire skills and get ahead of the competition.

As fun as it is, college can be a very stressful experience, especially for students entering their freshman year. With a million new options for fun, entertainment, learning, and much more loose class schedules, many students end up cramming at the last minute and/or pulling all-nighters for major assignments. Fortunately though, there are many ways to keep ahead of the game and keep your stress level at a minimum.

Real Life College Student Blog: King Arthur, Advanced Placement, Concurrent Enrollment and YOU

In the movie Monty Python’s Holy Grail, King Arthur of the Britons is charged with taking a sacred journey to recover one of the most revered relics of all time. He travels to distant lands, forms a band of some of the greatest knights of his era, and withstands wave after wave of ruthless taunting by the French. True to typical blogging form, I will now explain, through a vague and overextended metaphor, how an awesome parody of an Anglican myth relates to your college experience.
